Pile-Up
Tap. Stack. Don't miss.
Pile-Up is a one-tap stacking game. Gift boxes swing in on party balloons, and you tap to drop each one on the tower. Whatever hangs over the edge is cut off, so the next box is smaller. Your character rides the top, from a rooftop party at sunset up into the stars.
No app. No account. Free.
How to play Pile-Up
Tap Play, say you're ready, and your character climbs the fire escape to the roof. The rules show on the way up.
-
Tap to drop
A box swings back and forth over the tower. Tap anywhere (or press Space) to let it go.
-
Line it up
Whatever hangs over the edge is cut off and falls, so the next box is that much smaller.
-
Climb to the stars
Miss the tower completely and it's over. Your best height is saved on your device.
Perfect drops and getting faster
Every box counts as one. Here's what changes as the tower grows.
Drop it dead on and it keeps its size. Three perfects in a row make the box a little bigger again.
The box swings faster as you climb, and the music speeds up with it.
Every overhang is cut off. A box that misses the tower completely ends the game.
Pile-Up rules
What you need
- A phone, tablet or computer with a web browser. Nothing to download and no accounts.
- Just you: Pile-Up is a game for one. Your best height is remembered on the device you play on.
A game, step by step
- The party. You start in the party room. Pick your character, then tap I'm ready.
- The climb. Your character climbs the fire escape to the roof while How to play shows the rules. Tap Skip to go straight to the roof.
- Stack. Each box swings in from the side on party balloons. Tap to drop it. Your character jumps up onto every new box.
- Trim. Any part of the box that hangs past the box below is cut off. Line it up exactly for a perfect and it keeps its full width.
- Tower down. Miss the tower completely and the game ends. Your height is the number of boxes you stacked.
Tips
- Watch the box, not the tower: tap a moment before it lines up, since it takes a split second to fall.
- Perfects matter most early on, while the boxes are big and slow. Three in a row win back some width.
- Keep a steady rhythm. The music's beat speeds up with the box, so tapping along helps.
Questions
Is Pile-Up free?
Yes. It's free to play in your browser on any phone, tablet or computer, with no app and no account.
Can I play Pile-Up with friends?
Pile-Up is a game for one, but you can take turns and compare heights. To play together at the same time, try The Last to Flap, Encore!, Imposter or Last Second.
What counts as a perfect?
Dropping the box almost exactly on top of the one below. It snaps into place and keeps its full width, and three perfects in a row make the box a little bigger.
Can I skip the climb at the start?
Yes. Tap Skip (or press Enter) and your character goes straight to the roof. Play again starts the next tower right there on the roof.
Can I play Pile-Up with a keyboard?
Yes. On a computer, Space or the up arrow drops the box, and Enter skips the climb. To use other keys, open Settings (the gear at the top of the game) and pick your own.
Can I turn off the music?
Yes. Open Settings (the gear at the top of the game) and switch off the music, the sound effects, or both. Your choice is remembered on that device.
Want to play with people? Race in The Last to Flap, play back tunes in Encore!, or try Imposter and Last Second.
