100 category ideas
A good category has lots of answers for most letters, but not one answer everyone thinks of first. Here are 100 that work, grouped from easy warm-ups to hard mode, for the categories game or any game night list.

Which letters to use
| Difficulty | Letters |
|---|---|
| Easy: lots of answers | S, C, B, P, M, T, D, R |
| Medium | A, F, G, H, L, W |
| Hard | E, I, J, K, N, O |
| Brave mode | Q, U, V, X, Y, Z |
Start with easy letters and work up. Most groups leave the brave-mode letters out entirely, or play them for double points.
Make it harder
- Two words or more: "sea snake" counts, "snake" doesn't.
- A second letter: answers must also end with a letter you pick, like "starts with B, ends with Y".
- No letter E: surprisingly brutal.
- Six letters or fewer: great for long categories like "a famous landmark".
